Grilled Greek chicken

The grilled Greek chicken quinoa bowl was very fresh and hearty, filled with all the classic Greek flavors we craved! It has filled with fresh vegetables and topped with cream, herbal Greek yogurt-based tzatziki sauce.

Greek chicken quinoa bowl

That's how you make a quinoa bowl! Layer by layer texture, layer-by-layer flavor, always satisfied!

I really try to minimize the ingredient list (you should look at some of my other Greek recipes), so I listed some optional toppings like feta cheese, avocado, olives, and honey.

The key ingredients are pickled and roasted chicken, quinoa (which can be replaced with faro), and then I would say at least one fresh vegetable and tzatziki (which can be replaced with hummus).

Then to make the most of your time, you can cook the quinoa while the chicken is marinating and prepare the ingredients while the chicken is boiling.

I used to believe that chicken takes 2 hours to marinate, but this has never happened in the last few years on busy weekday evenings. For many acidic marinades, I have found that 30 minutes is actually enough.

If you like Greek food, this recipe is definitely for you. If you've never eaten Greek green food, then this recipe is definitely for you. If you are human, then this recipe is for you :). Believe me, it was delicious!

In fact, it's so good that you'll want to make it regularly. Greek and Mediterranean foods have ways to do this.

Grilled Greek chicken quinoa bowl toppings

For Greek chicken marinades, you need:

  • chicken breast
  • olive oil
  • lemon juice
  • garlic
  • vanilla (dried basil, oregano, and thyme)
  • honey
  • salt and pepper

For the rest of the quinoa bowl, you need:

  • quinoa
  • diced tomatoes
  • avocado
  • cucumber
  • feta cheese
  • kalamata olives
  • tzatziki

How to make it

  • Stir together the Greek chicken marinade ingredients and pour into a sealed bag. Place the chicken in a bag and marinate for 30 minutes.
  • When the chicken is marinated, cook the quinoa.
  • After the chicken is marinated, it is grilled at medium or high heat until cooked.
  • Cut the Greek roast chicken into cubes and assemble the quinoa bowl with the ingredients of your choice.

Can I do this with chicken thighs?

Yes, although you may need to adjust the cooking time slightly when grilling chicken.

Can I prepare these in advance?

These Greek chicken quinoa bowls are perfect for preparing meals. Be sure to wait until you are ready to serve before adding the avocados, and then place the tzatziki in a separate small container.

Tips for the best bowls

  • I like to add a little honey to my Greek chicken marinade because it helps the chicken form those cute grill marks. If desired, you can omit the honey.
  • Be sure to rinse the quinoa before cooking, otherwise it may become bitter after cooking.
  • Feel free to play with the ingredients you add to this quinoa bowl recipe. Greek chicken goes well with a variety of toppings!
